Nursing integrates into the fabric of society. The unique role of the nurse involves one to one interaction with patient/clients and their families resulting in great personal job satisfaction. The nurse plays a central role in the health care team. The School of Nursing and Midwifery promotes personal, professional and academic development through the provision of college and practice-based learning. The aim of the programme is to foster the development of knowledge, skills, attitudes and professional values.
Intellectual Disability nurses work closely with people with an intellectual disability and their families throughout their lives as advocates, practitioners, educators and facilitators. As members of an interdisciplinary team of therapists, clinicians, teachers and medical personnel, ID nurses work in a person-centred way to empower clients to achieve their life goals. Entry Requirements
Students must present six subjects of which two must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE (A-Level. The other subjects must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects must include: English, Mathematics and a language other than English.
Students must present A-Level, at Grade C, in either a Laboratory Science subject, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.
